Filipinos are known for their “Bayanihan” or their communal spirit that they offer to visitors as well. They are known for their calm and gentle ways, as well as their interest in having light-hearted conversations as well as offering a helping hand to travelers.

Some trouble spots

Due to the Islamic insurgents, some parts of the Philippines are off limits. In fact one of the three main islands, Mindanao, is not recommended for safe travel. Other parts of the country are actually easier to maneuver through because the government has cracked down on crimes against tourists, like pick pockets and crooked taxi drivers.
