The Philippines

The Philippines has many exciting offerings for travelers, known for some of the best diving and the best beaches. It is a vast and complicated place to plan to see, because of all the many little islands. With all the rich history of the Spanish conquerors to the ancient burial grounds and tribal peoples, to the natural wonder of volcanoes, limestone hills, waterfalls and perfect beach coves, anyone can find the perfect vacation.

The Phillippines consists of three main islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Many other islands surround them. There is so much ground to cover, you will have to decide exactly what you want to do and see, since you can’t possibly do it all, even if you have a full three weeks to travel.

Bayanihan

Filipinos are known for their “Bayanihan” or their communal spirit that they offer to visitors as well. They are known for their calm and gentle ways, as well as their interest in having light-hearted conversations as well as offering a helping hand to travelers.

Some trouble spots

Due to the Islamic insurgents, some parts of the Philippines are off limits. In fact one of the three main islands, Mindanao, is not recommended for safe travel. Other parts of the country are actually easier to maneuver through because the government has cracked down on crimes against tourists, like pick pockets and crooked taxi drivers. You’ll have to research where you want to visit first.
